Jagga Jasoos Movie Review

Jagga Jasoos is an emotional yet adventurous story of a stuttering kid who goes on a quest to find his missing father. The makers of the film has high hopes on the film as Anurag Basu, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are long in due for a hit. Audience are praising the look of the film quoting to give Ravi Varman a oscar for his cinematography.

Story: Jagga(Ranbir Kapoor) is a high school student when his father(Saswata Chatterjee) goes missing. Moving on, Jagga develops investigative qualities and can evaluate a death if it’s a murder or a suicide. With his distinctive qualities, he comes to a conclusion that his father is still alive and goes on a quest to find his missing father. Shruti(Katrina Kaif) is a journalist who joins hands with Jagga in his adventure and the rest of the movie follows the findings of the duo.

Jagga Jasoos review: Firstly, Jagga Jasoos is a complicated story that is told in a non linear fashion. The emotions were delivered perfectly due to the screenplay. Bengali actor Saswata Chatterjee had a very good role to play and pulled it with perfection. Katrina Kaif as the side kick provides necessary fun and support. The main deal of the film is however Ranbir Kapoor as Jagga, the stuttering Sherlock Holmes who wants to go to any height to find his father. The relation between Father-Son is explored beautifully in the film.

The film looks like it is set in a fairytale world and the cinematography adds to the lustre that’s happening on screen. Popular Cinematographer Ravi Varman sets the movie up in different colours and locations that everything that we see on screen is straight out of a mystic fairytale.

The movie has different layers of storytelling and Anurag Basu should be credited for writing such script. By always keeping the investigative tone in the film, Anurag Basu exploits the emotions of a Father Son relationship and the love between them perfectly. There is a subtle romance going on between Jagga and Shruti that added to the fun flavour of the film. Cinematography is top notch and Pritam’s Music and BGM deserves a special mention.

There are so many good things about the film but it’s not entirely a perfect film. The setup in first half for the upcoming adventure can come as a bit slow in pace. The awkward comedy is still there from Barfi and may evolve as Childish for some audience. The length of the movie is also a negative point as plenty of time is dedicated to songs and comedy. An adventure can be an adventure without songs too.

Jagga Jasoos Movie Rating – 3/5

Verdict: Finally, Jagga Jasoos is a top notch newcomer in Bollywood that will inspire many screenplays to come to exploit the father son relationship in different ways. The movie should be experienced in theatre as it’s a live fairytale with Musicals. The thriller part of the film is also good and Ranbir Kapoor’s acting makes it all Wonderful.

Watch it with your friends and family this weekend as Jagga Jasoos is a family film for all audience. Share our Jagga Jasoos Movie Review to let your friends know.
