The movie has caught the buzz of moviegoers as Kahaani was a cult hit and the audience are expecting the same amount of tension drama this time also. Read our full review below to see if Kahaani 2 succeeded the same as the first.
Movie: Kahaani 2
Cast: Vidya Balan, Arjun Rampal, Jugal Hansraj
Kahaani 2 review:
Story: Vidya Balan(Vidya Sinha) is the mother of Minnie, a little school going girl who gets kidnapped and Vidya Sinha sets on a search to find Mini. In a parallel story, Arjun Rampal is a mid level intelligent cop who is assigned with the task of finding Vidya Sinha who is charged with Kidnapping and murder of a person. Arjun Rampal gets hands on Vidya Sinha’s diary and the rest of the story follows with these stories connecting together at the climax with some brilliant twists.
The first few minutes of the film will give a glimpse of the sweet mother and daughter relation and the eerie emptiness their life is filled with. We cut down to Arjun Rampal, who is a cop in pursuit of Vidya Sinha and is bombarded with a lot of questions than answers that change his perspective every time. The director Sujay Ghosh intelligently placed three stories in the movie. The original story of what happened, The story in the diary, and the story the director is showing us. The first half is filled with enough suspense. Some predictable twists happen in the second half that are suited into the narrative.
The screenplay is fast paced and the first 15 minutes of the film are enough to pull you into the game that the director is playing. The guessing game starts in the next segment of the film where there will be good scenes for guessing that will be justified in the second half.
The background music is haunting and intense and gives us chills in some scenes. The dialogue writing is mysterious and interesting.
The Cinematography is a bit on the cold side and not as colorful as Kahaani but is equally impactful.
Kahaani 2 rating: 4/5
The highlights of the film come from the performances of Vidya Balan and the little girl Minnie played by Naisha Khanna. Arjun Rampal is as good as ever and the villains of the movie did a decent job.
The BGM and songs are intense. The screenplay is water tight.
Watch out for the first 20 minutes of the film and the final twist that puts the whole movie into a single perspective.
Is this better than Kahaani?
Not definitely. But better than most of the thrillers in recent times.
Sujay Ghosh hits again with an intensive drama.
A must watch for Thriller lovers this weekend.
